Group Meetings The Fieser Lab has two group meetings a week
- (Wed 3 pm, SGM 216) 2-hour group meeting which can take one of two forms: (a) one member presents their research progress (each member should expect to give at least one chalk talk and one formal presentation a year) for the first half. Then another member presents on a literature example that aligns with the goals of our research.*The purpose of this group meeting is to improve our knowledge in our field of interest and develop new ideas as a team. (b) we will prepare for a topic to discuss skills to build in the group. Fall 2019 we focused on how to write a good manuscript. The purpose of this group meeting is to improve a particular skill related to research. Email [email protected] for information.
- (Mondays 2 pm) 1-hour coffee group meeting where two members are each tasked with finding a high profile paper in any area of inorganic chemistry, except our direct research interests. These members should aim to only read the paper for an hour and briefly present the main goal of the publication and the unique strategies to accomplish these goals. We will then discuss reasons for why this paper made it into a high impact journal. *The purpose of this group meeting is to keep our inorganic chemistry knowledge broad, as many group members will go on to work in different areas than their direct project in the Fieser Lab.
